Is There Anyone That Has Had Genetic Testing And If So What Were The Pros And The Cons ? I I Lost My Mom A Year Ago To Multiple Myeloma Bone

Cancer, I also had a aunt which was my mom's older sister had pancreatic cancer and the sister had two sons which is the aunt they also had pancreatic cancer ,my mom's mother(my grandmother) had ovarian cancer and my mom's father (my grandfather)had pancreatic cancer and my father currently has prostrate cancer.

Make sure that you have your insurance policies in place first.

A lot of insurance companies will cover cost of genetics tests in full or part.

Some people get tested to rule out any mutations that they may carry so that future generations are protected with knowledge.

People are tested for BRACA 1 and 2 as part of the testing.
All family history is evaluated and considered in coming up with a health proactive plan for this individual and by this information, other family members.

Wow !so it Runs in your family,
My father, 6 brothers died of different cancers.His only sister of a Breast cancer,I have Multiple malyoma, had it for 10 years,

I am triple negative, which is often found in those BRCA+. I tested negative, but if not, they would have recommended a bilateral mastectomy and hysterectomy.
Knowledge is key. Glad I got tested.

I had genetic testing once they explained it all made sense and gave sense of relief as it tells genes/mutation you may or may not be subjected to worth it my insurance paid for it completely

The Myriad genetics company tests for mutations which is done by taking a blood sample in your doctor’s office and can be done at any time, including after all surgery etc.
