Looking For Advice From Single Mastectomy Women. How Can I Look A Bit More Natural?
I am 5 weeks post surgery. I had a single mastectomy. They gave me a cami with a pocket for a soft puffy insert to give me shape. The problem is while the puffy insert looks good, my remaining breast is much lower (I’m in my 70’s). Until I can get fitted for a better prosthesis and bra what can I do to look a little more “even” when I go out of the house? I don’t much care when I’m home.
You could check out those gel pads that breast feeding women use. I do not know the size.
Or look at those liners that they also use. Again, size is what you need….
My surgeon has told me I need to wait another 3 weeks before making that appointment for a fitting. I need something to help in the meantime. I have a compression cami they gave me but the insert sits much higher than my natural breast so it looks ridiculous. I’m just trying to tap the hive mind here to see if there is a better solution than the very uneven look or going without anything.
A compression bra will lift the other breast to a higher position.
Your insurance should pay for a compression bra with a pocket.
They can give you a silicon insert for the pocket which makes the mastectomy side look natural and is comfortable.
Again, insurance should cover this according to a law put through.
You need to go to a site/ in person store that specializes in
this and will give you a perfect fit…
They have a basic compression bra. If that doesn’t work, an upgrade is $35 out of pocket and insurance pays rest.
4 bras a year.
Silicon insert was paid in full by insurance….
Hi there! A prosthetic and bra to hold it in place works well. You can try them in a specialty store to see what looks best for you.
Thanks I’ll take a look
