Wishing You All A Happy Mother's Day Weekend! Has Anyone Had Experience With T-C (Docetaxel Plus Cyclophosphamide)?
Wonder what it is about Pinot Grigio. My sister was always a beer drinker but after her BC treatments, she started drinking again but with Pinot Grigio. Right now I'm finding a new craving for ice cold Pellegrino!! 😁
Hi J02, I'm home now from the first day of chemo. The port didn't work for the lab work, so had to draw it the old fashion way. They gave me a "clot buster" so the port was working by chemo time (after a few tries). I got the neulasta OnPro, and 2 anti-nausea prescriptions and was told to start taking them today and not wait for nausea to kick in. Came home, took the Claritin (that I forgot to take this morning) and one of the nausea, will then rotate between the 2 prescriptions, every 4 hours as suggested, for 3 days.
I was thinking about what I told you about the Sensodyne in the 70's, and actually it might have been in the 80's. Looking back to events in my history has been difficult. I Google my brain and usually have to wait hours or days for the results, then don't really know if those results are the correct answer! 😁
So I'll just wait for the hair to fall and then have fun with the wigs. Gotta have some fun!
I don't know if you drink alcohol, but Allen (husband) and I usually have a happy hour and I like Scotch (non-peaty), then I enjoy a nice red wine on steak night (every Friday). When I discovered I had BC, I stopped alcohol, but found some de-alcoholized wines (the whites are actually better than the reds and you have to look at the sugar addition if you're into low carb/low sugar). For the whiskey substitute, I found a brand called Ritual (they have all sorts of botanical spirits). Putting these in a nice glass makes our life seem a little more normal. And that's what I think EVERYONE wants back in their life!
Hope all is good with you and yours!
🥰
Thank you so much much! I can't even begin to tell you how helpful this is. I have been using sensodyne since the 70's because of sensitive teeth. Love that product.
The night sweats, wondering if you're pre-menopausal and the treatment brought on those symptoms or whether that's just what the treatment does? I bought some big washable pads to protect the bed.
I've heard some pretty bad things about the neulasta. So taking the steroid for 3 days stopped those awful aches or so you have to occasionally take the steroid again? Do you continually take neulasta? I need to look up that treatment.
I'll be following all your tips. Infusions begin Tuesday (5/28) and I feel prepared from the experiences and advice from everyone who answered. These notes have helped my husband too, who's been concerned with what I might go through. He had lymphoma and did a trial with pills. No side effects, tumors shrunk at 3 month CT! Wish our BC treatments could be like that!!
Have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully you're not in a place with scary weather!
@A MyBCTeam Member - Hey Cindy, hope you’re not feeling too bad from your 1st infusion🙏 and good to hear everything went smoothly (except for the blood draw.)
I hear you and no worries ~ I recently found out I have selective memory! lol - I remember my conversation with my doctors one way but if I listen to the recordings, it didn’t happen the way I remember. I couldn’t believe it!😬😅🤦♀️
(That throws all the debates I had with my husband out the window!! 😰😂)
I don’t really drink but could use a glass of wine these days so thank you for the tips. I found out I like Pinot Grigio recently (right before my surgery 😂) and was waiting until my port incision healed.. But that is a great idea! 👍
And yes - you are so right ~ couldn’t wait until I got back to my life and it’s getting there~☺️
Hope the rest of your treatments goes smoothly and hang in there! It’ll go by fast🙏❤️
I love Sensodyne too! Can’t believe it’s been around that long~
Yes, I was pre-menopausal and never had night sweats like that before. I remember it was the day of chemo and couple of more nights afterwards and that’s it.😁
The dexamethasone, I had to take for 3 days + Claritin for 5 days. The dexamethasone was to help the side effects from chemo and Claritin was to help side effects from Neulasta. I took Tylenol for couple of days because of the body ache but wasn’t so bad.
I was given Neulasta OnPro the day after chemo and it’s only 1 shot (make sure you get the booklet if you get the Neulasta OnPro - it has all the instructions).
I didn’t feel nauseous until my 3rd infusion so I was pretty thankful for that. Had a bit of constipation and I think that was from the dexa but prune juice helped a lot and went away after 5 days or so..
Oh, and my hair started falling out about 2 weeks after my 1st infusion.. I was really stressed out about losing my hair but when it actually happened, it wasn’t so bad~☺️
Lucky your husband didn’t get the side effects.. feel like the worst part of these treatments are the side effects!
Wish you a wonderful weekend also and hope for a smooth 1st treatment for you 🙏❤️
