Has Anyone Gone Aesthetic Flat Closure After A SMX Or DMX?
That is a truly wonderful story. 🙏💕❣️
Me, too- My cancer is HER2+, so the best they can tell me is the genetic damage was done -probably- because of "something I was exposed to" at "some point in my life"- that really narrows it down- huh!? Decided shoving plastic and silicone in there is probably not in my best interest. I developed an allergy to metal after an orthopedic procedure, and I get contact dermititis from bandaid adhesives- lol! Don't think I want to borrow implant troubles!
I will tell you that when I had my surgery, my grandson had been born just 5 months prior. The kids went out, and I had him laying across the flat side. He snuggled right in, relaxed, fell asleep- and after a couple of minutes, I could feel our heart beats sync. In spite of the physical traumas along this journey, there are unexpected blessings.
May your heart always be open to seeing yours! Hugs!
@A MyBCTeam Member,
Again, thank you. I was reading about how surgeons will leave "dog ears" skin in case the patient changes their mind. That would be difficult, and different result from an AFC. I will meet with my onco and see what her opinion is. I'm faced with possible shrinkage, (it's been the same for 5 months) and a lumpectomy. Or the Oncopastic BCS lift (and lift on the opposite breast) which is what she explained. Now I'm thinking of AFC, and that it's only one surgery, as opposed to implants. My surgeon said only 2% return for de-implant removal. Apparently, implants break down and need to be redone in years (10?) to come. I know 2 women who went flat years ago, and one who has implants. For me, it's the material that the implants are made of, plastic. I have an aversion.
She just worked with the skin I had, and I was not left with anything extra to turn into the "dog ears"- which is that extra arm pit skin, that often women will have reduced in a follow-up surgery.
Yes, my surgeon is the head of the Breast Center for our Hospital. So, that is all she does, the AFC and simple lumpectomies. For anything that requires reconstruction, possible grafting, etc. she refers to a plastic surgeon.
