I too was on Tamoxifen. I was on it for 6 to 8 months before the hot flashes got really bad. When I asked the radiation oncologist what I could do, she told me to meet with the medical oncologist. So 11 months after the medical oncologist first put me on Tamoxifen, I finally had a follow up with the medical oncologist’s PA. She suggested I take vitamin E and Black Cohosh. It helped a little. I was taken off Tamoxifen 6 months later because of extreme emotional side effects. I am presently not on any additional medication.

I am on tamoxifen - just over 6 months. Hot flashes, joint pain, sleep disturbances, mood swings. Vitamin E was suggested but I am on blood thinners so not an option. My surgeon said some of her patients found acupuncture to be helpful. We live in a small town so none available and it’s over an hour to the big city. My oncologist prescribed venlaxafine. It has really helped. The hot flashes are less frequent and less intense and I don’t fly off the handle anymore. My overall mood is much improved and I can get out and work in my gardens and socialize again. Worked well for me

I have been on anastrozole for 6 months and my oncologist prescribed gabapentin for my hot flashes! I would so try the vitamin E.

I’d try it! Interesting that a MD is suggesting something natural… go for it!
