Tamoxifen is a hormonal therapy used to prevent breast cancer from returning after treatment. It works by blocking the effect of estrogen on hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

If you have concerns about tamoxifen and its side effects, such as the risk of uterine cancer, you should discuss alternative treatments with your doctor. Options may include:

- Aromatase Inhibitors: These drugs decrease estrogen levels and do not cause uterine cancer. Examples include:
- Letrozole (Femara)
- Anastrozole (Arimidex)
- Exemestane (Aromasin)

- Ovarian Suppression: This can be achieved through:
- Oophorectomy (surgical removal of the ovaries)
- Radiation therapy to damage the ovaries
- Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist drugs (e.g., leuprolide, goserelin)
- Chemotherapy to damage the ovaries

Always consult your healthcare team to weigh the risks and benefits of each treatment option based on your specific situation.
