I wonder that also @A MyBCTeam Member. Remember though, its not the actual drug that causes our side effects but the lack of estrogen, so I think anything that blocks estrogen is probably going to have the same effect on our bones. Once we get through menopause we start producing less and then arthritis and osteoarthritis sets in. I have been using public transit since I was 15 yrs old so I see a lot of people and it is incredible how many women are limping around with knee issues. Using canes, walkers, knee braces. It almost looks epidemic. Some women take HRT to prevent this, my mom took it for 10 years and she never had bad knees or complained about bone pain. Deprivation of estrogen to our bones is going to cause pain no matter what causes the deprivation.

Have been on Letrozole for 2 years. Have had 3 bouts with Ulcerative Colitis and I am not going to take it anymore. Oncologist kept saying it was not the Letrozole. This last bout was the worst. Sick for a month. Did my research and eHealth and Me did a study June 2 2024. of 53470 people reported to have side effects when taking Letrozole 55 people (0.1%)have Ulcerative colitis. https://www.ehealthme.com/ds/letrozole/ulcerati...
I will take my chances. My nodes were negative and I had a Bilateral Mastectomy 2 years ago. Within 5 days off letrozole the bleeding stopped. It is almost 2 weeks and I feel like a new person. Just started on Colitis medicine . I am 80 years old and the quality of my life is more important. Read my story!

@A MyBCTeam Member yeah, we all say these drugs are horrible and in reality, we do know they block hormones but when we really think about it its the deprivation of estrogen that causes hot flashes and pain so we need to treat our own side effects. Women suffer once through menopause and start having knee issues. Unfortunately, that is when we all should reacted and did something. I also have fat cells. I didn't know anything about estrogen and fat cells

Barbara, thanks for pointing out that it isn't the meds that cause the issues but the lack of hormones. And as you pointed out lots of women get these same side effects after menopause. Once our ovaries stop producing hormones, they are produced by fat cells. I unfortunately have a bunch of fat cells. Lol.
