Is Anyone Else Experiencing Problems With Short Term Memory?
I'm on Anastrozole and am forgetting things more often than I am used to. It seems to be pertaining to short term memory only. Both parents died of dementia, so this is concerning.
One of man’s best inventions…the post-it note!!!!! I now make detailed lists for groceries, daily things I want to get done in the house and yard. If I see something that needs done, I do it immediately so I don’t rack my brain trying to figure out what I was going to do. Work around are just a part of life now. All I have to do now is convince my husband to add things to the grocery list as he sees we need them!
Meds can be one culprit, and stress is another thing that interferes with memory. That is why in schools now they are requiring teachers to attend trainings on how students dealing with trauma, may need extra learning supports because their short term memory and availability for learning is impacted. We understood this years ago, when people recognized that students learned better, if we made sure they had something to eat. You can't concentrate when you are hungry. The same applies to other stressors.
I will be keeping you in prayers that it is something as simple as the meds and stress. In the meantime- while I was going through chemo and chemo fog was so real, I relied heavily on Post-it Notes and the Notes app on my phone. Tight hugs!
I’m on Letrozole and have short term memory loss. Alzheimers runs in my family, so I’m actually relieved that part of my memory loss may be from the medication I’m 70, so that could also be a factor. Scary as hell. 🫶

The site bot did not answer your question but instead talked about chemotherapy and short term memory loss.
Please google your question on your phone.
You may discover that all the AI’s may cause short term memory loss and are listed somewhere on a list of side effects.
The brain needs estrogen as do all other body parts.
So we all struggle with lack of estrogen symptoms.
Discuss this with your oncologist.
Know that hopefully practice and repetition and anything that helps focus may improve this.
Puzzles, games, notes to self and using initials in your mind to key in words to help recall words used often but not on the tip of your tongue will help.
Do not worry about the unknown but go forward each day with love.

Hi Kathy, I struggle a little with recalling some words. Some forgetfulness.
Losing your sense of taste has to be horrible.
I am sorry.to hear about your mother.. I have 1 remaining sibling, 90 year-old sister in Bonita Springs FL.
I talk with her and she still is able to call me on her cell.
It is an extremely cruel disease.
Hope you regain your sense of taste and recall.
Take care.
