What Is Triple Negative Breast Cancer
You do get to know them. and know you can count on them- they are a source of constant knowledge, and motivation. I only did about 6 months of OT after our car accident, and it was obvious that I was not going to get the previous range of motion with my hands, wrist, elbow or shoulder, but I was ok, no pain, and I found ways around the limitations. I was close to 3 years in PT, when there was a point that progress was really slow, The orthopedic surgeon asked what my opinion was about continuing. I told him that I felt that getting 90 degrees with my knee was on the verge of happening (something they never thought would) and he wrote the script. When I next saw him- 3 months later, he was so excited because I had exceeded the 90 degrees. He was willing to write another 3 months script- but honestly, I did not think I would get much more than that, so I declined. That was 4 decades ago, and I still keep up with all the exercises and stretches for that leg- and still get my 90+degrees. I was told I would probably need both a hip and knee replacement in 10-15 years, but I am still working with what God gave me- lol! It is full of arthritis, but I can deal with that! I think it was easier to say goodbye to that crew, because other than the orthopedist (who lived/worked in another county) I was seeing all the rest regularly as we all worked in the same hospital.
@A MyBCTeam Member If feels very weird as appts start winding down. I still had to see the surgeon and the oncologist-at first every three months, then every 6, then every year. I scheduled them so I saw the alternately- so in actuality it went one of the other at 6 weeks, 3 months, and now at 6 months. I see the surgeon in March, and the oncologist in September. The next oncology appt will probably get moved up, as I will hit 5 years out of treatment at the end of January- and at that point, the oncologist will release me.
I found one way to deal with the anxiousness was to think of something fun to do that replaces the appt. Get together with friends, go to the movies, head out to a park- and in doing so, remind yourself- this is the life you fought for- every appt you don't have to do, is more of your time back to enjoy your life! It takes practice, but doing these other things becomes your new norm!! Hugs!

That's a great plan Jo. I know I am going to be nervous if they ever start stringing out my visits. As much as it is time consuming to have so many doctors appointments I also find it reassuring and will struggle if and or when that changes.
I understand. In the beginning so much is going on and then it comes to a halt. But here we are every day. Maybe not in person but we are here.
