Remedies For Aromatase Inhibitors Problems And Sleep Problems

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Rochester, NY

I switched from Breckinridge Letrozole to Accord manufacturing Letrozole and have less side effects.

Most of these AI’s from DIFFERENT manufacturers may have additives and some (Anastrozole) have Lactose in them. If you have a Lactose problem, those will bother you.

Remedies to be cleared through your Oncologist are:

Glucosamine Chrondroitrin

Hyaluronic Acid plant collagen

Life Extension brand of ArthroMax Advanced NT2 Collagen and frankincense and boron.

Generic Claritin - (Loratadine )

I was an insomniac before Letrozole so I can’t blame it on that. Cutting off my coffee earlier and my screen time, has helped

I thought that the Letrozole was causing dry eyes. It seemed that my dry eyes were worse with Letrozole as I now have to use eye drops more often. I always wore contact lenses and then had cataract surgery.

Dry eyes can be caused by:
1)Contact lenses.
2)Lasik surgery.
3)Cataract surgery.
4)A lot of computer screen time.
5)Aromatase inhibitors.

But, when I was off Letrozole for a month, the dry eyes did not get better.

Conclusion that I reached is that eyes can get dry from the first 4 listed and get drier every year.

But I do seem to only get dry eyes at night after I take Letrozole and through the night to the AM.

*As far as switching to Anastrozole on a different tablet taking schedule, I would google online to see the information on this.

Also, Sign up for the Mayo Clinic Connect online with their BC group and ask the question if any have switched to another schedule instead of a daily tablet of Anestrozole. How long did they take it before switching off daily tablet to another schedule? etc.

Try posting this question on other sites too.
