It took almost a year of being off the hormone blocker to be completely rid of the pain in my joints. My hands have developed arthritis and I have a trigger finger on my right hand. My memory remains impaired but aging plays a role in that as well. But everyone is different and you might have a totally different response.

I've been on anastrozole for about 9 months. The hot flashes & extreme body aches have settled down to minor annoyances. I still experience sleep problems (but I've always been a light sleeper) and I deal with fatigue daily. I need to push myself to move, cause I know I'll feel better. What I didn't expect was for my bad cholesterol level to jump up extremely high (I've never had high cholesterol!) so now I'm on a statin. Diarrhea is a continual issue for me. And now I'm having vision issues (a rare side effect). I'm now on glaucoma drops nightly and my ophthalmologist is putting me through a bunch of tests and scans. I'm giving it another 6 weeks to when I go to my new oncologist (a new one since mine left the area). Sooo, 2 months ago I thought things were going ok and now I'm not sure. My vision is probably the only thing that would influence me to quit the AI. So I guess I'll see.
