Though it is meant as a preventative, I did not find out about Polybalm until my nails were like yours. The chemo also cause your nails to begin lifting. Please start babying them now! Keep them trimmed short, Use gloves for any household chores, etc. and no prying (ex- no soda tabs, avoid putting pressure on them like that). When mine starting lifting I would wear bandaids with the gauze side against the nail, just in case I were to snag the nail. The good news is I was able to keep all my fingernails. Just when I thought this was all in the rear view mirror, 4 of my toenails started to discolor. I tried the same thing- but did end up losing both nails on the big toes, and the right one, I lost twice!

The Polybalm really did help with the soreness around the cuticles, and I wish oncologists would educate themselves on this product, because it was meant as a preventative. It comes two tubes- so that you use one for your fingers, and one for your toes, as an effort to limit any cross contamination, as feet are more prone to fungal issues anyway.

This is the link to where I purchased mine:

The product is from the UK, so here is a link with more info about it:

Good luck!

Try rubbing olive oil on your nails and cuticles 2-3 times a day.

My husband noticed within a a couple of days how less red my toes were- I thought so too, but when he said something it made it real- lol! I do know my fingers and hands did feel better.

Did you use cold pack mittens and/or booties during chemo? That helps apparently with this as well as in preventing possible neuropathy- my oncologist did not mention that as an preventative option either.

I had the exact same issue. I am hoping your nails stay intact. Chemo did not affect my toenails at all.
