If you are undergoing chemo, it will affect your taste buds. And smells bothered me more. I found for drinks a straw helped. For foods, it was hit or miss, metal utensils seemed to make everything taste metallic- I tried switching to plastic, but they felt so slick, my brain would scream "greasy" and I would just gag! I found finger foods best, and if I really needed a fork, the bamboo ones, or chopsticks worked best. Soup was usually a good choice for me, especially if I was dipping my grilled cheese into it! Appetite was not what it usually was, so I just got used to half size portions.
Keep trying- it is so important to keep that nutrition going- you can't expect your body to hold up while being bombarded by treatment- AND dealing with a lack of nutrition. Try keeping some of the Boost or Ensure shakes on hand as backups!

Keep trying things. I have a lot of things that don't taste right for one reason or another. And smells that make me nauseous. Somehow I got lucky and I can still taste fruit, mostly mango and citrus. So, I eat an awful lot of it. I am also still good with some soups, sweet potatoes, some types of crackers. So they have become my favorites. If you just started plasticware give it a bit. There are mouth washes that can help. I will try to find details. Have you tried googling for things that can help? Hoping you find something that helps.

For taste changes, try mild or calorie-rich foods that appeal to you. Chewing ice chips during infusions may help. Always inform your oncologist about persistent diarrhea for further guidance.

Nina, are you experiencing a sore throat with chemo? If, so, please call your doctor and ask about an Rx for Magic Mouthwash. I did the salt water rinse several times a day, and avoided it- but several of the pink sisters here have struggled with the sore mouth/throat and swear by this prescription rinse. Gentle hugs!
