Tendonitis

I developed a "trigger finger" a type of tendonitis in the middle finger of my left had. This started just a few weeks after I switched from Arimidex to Exemestane. I find the timing odd. My PCP didn't know anything about it, so I went to an orthopedist when one morning I couldn't let go of a coffee cup because the finger stuck down around the handle, and the pain was severe
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? The ortho said she didn't think the A.I. was the cause. But the timing is… read more

My oncologist said it was another side effect from chemo.

I had trigger thumb in each hand while taking Arimidex. I was given a Cortisone shot in the right thumb, but because I had lymph nodes removed from the left side, could not bet shot in left hand. I ended up going to physical therapy and working it out. The best exercise was "walking the wall" which can easily be done in the shower. Just move your fingers up the wall like you are climbing stairs.
Good luck to you!!!

Yes I had exactly the same symptoms almost immediately after starting Arimidex. I took it for just a short while (6 weeks). I stopped it in November and in July I had three trigger fingers released. My pharmacist was the one that tipped me off about the Arimidex. Approximately 50% of the women that take it develop hand symptoms. Most women the symptoms subside over time. If your symptoms continue you should talk to your Oncologist and see if her thinks you need to see a hand specialist.

I am also suffering from pain in my arm, elbow, wrist and I wake up with three of my fingers (trigger) stuck to the inside of my hand (which now has marks). Right now I am on Medical and there seems to be only one hand specialist that I can see (who is at our county hospital). I attempted to go thru the process but I could not sit there for eight hours. Saying all of that I AM ALSO SUFFERING WITH TERRIBLE PAIN AND TRIGGER FINGER. Have not been on any meds...I think it is nerve damage from radiation???? Radiation doctor does not agree? Hope we can find some relief. Last treatment in 2010...
