Been Itching To Ask These Questions?
I spent 5 1/2 hours in surgery Monday getting my bilateral mastectomy. They did not find cancer in my nodes (yea) I'm finding it very hard to breathe and broke out in rash all over my upper part of my body this morning. Also my upper chest is hard and swollen (expanders were put in during surgery). Has anyone had this happen to them? Also, thank you all for keeping me in your prayers and positive thoughts. It kept me going <3
I felt like I had a concrete block on my chest until I had the 2nd surgery to have the implants put in.
I broke out in hives right after surgery and had to take Benadryl . Turns out I was allergic to the prep they used, next surgery they used something different, no problems. Breasts after any surgery can become hard and swollen.
@A MyBCTeam Member How long did your rash last for and did it spread all over your body like mine is ? I agree with you completly that in is worse than the chest pain!
The rash could also be from the adhesives that are holding your pain pump and drains in place and covering your incisions. I was terribly allergic (especially to the clear bandages they used ). The rash was honestly worse then any chest pain. I'm only 6 weeks post BMX and am now dealing with expander pain. But as most women are saying, it will get better.
I had my bilat mastectomy one month ago with expanders and I'm just now starting for feel better. By better I mean my "bricks" on my chest seem to be softening up a bit. I know it's painful but hang in there. It seems to be getting a little better everyday.
