I Had A Lot Of Underarm Odor After Surgery And Through Radiation. I Found The Crystal

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭

deodorants were not very useful. However, now that I am through everything, I find that I am using less deodorant. Has anyone else had this experience? I had axillary lymph node on the right side and only sentinal lymph node dissection on the left. I am wondering if the lymph node removal makes a difference.

I had a right mastectomy and sentinel lymph node removal. I did not notice increased odor with surgery but with chemo the odor is horrible. I think that hormonal changes, medication, stress, and illness can all impact our body odor.

I was using a combo of toms of Maine, crystal, and an essential oil blend. They do not work that well compared to traditional aluminum deodorants and never have so i just always keep wet wipes and deodorant on me and reapply through out the day. I now am repulsed by smell of the essential oil deoderant blend i was using and created my own. It smells awesome but i still have to reapply at least once. I blend the following oils: lavender, tea tree, frankincense, ylang ylang, bergamot, and grapefruit. I mix a few drops of each together and put it in a roll on container. Smells really good. :)

I have never read or heard anything negative regarding the use of tea tree oil or lavender oil for hormone receptor positive cancer. In fact i have read the opposite. There is surgery being offered at OSU hospital and probably elsewhere to correct lymphedema but it is experimental from what i understand. Lymph node transplant and also another procedure. Crystal deodorant contains natural mineral salts which has potassium aluminum which is different from aluminum chlorohydrate found in regular deodorants.
