Newly Placed Port Question

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Franklin, IN

Had my port placed 4 days ago. Pain is improving each day (never took more than Tylenol) and incisions look good. I feel it is healing well. My question is - I feel like I've had some heart palpitations since the night it was placed. Just that feeling occasionally where it feels like an extra beat or something. I'd say maybe one an hour, or one every 2 hours.

Anyone else experience this?

Hi Rosamaria...my port was placed in June 2014 and I still get some palpitations every once in a while. I used to mind it but have gotten used to it. Asked my onco and my nurses and was told it was pretty normal. I still get a little anxious on every new thing since my diagnosis but I have learned to take action by researching on whatever it is and being in touch with my onco to ease my anxiety. Read up on the stories and Q&A on this site and you will learn a lot. Hope everything will be well with you. Take care.

Maybe confusing with muscle spasm? Body is still getting use to a foreign object.
