Cold Caps?
I was told during my treatment plan appointment that I could use a "cold cap" during chemo which could either save my hair or certainly reduce the amount lost! Just wondering if anyone has used this and does it work??
I am 9 days past my second AC treatment and I've been using chemo cold caps. I have lost very little hair. I don't really think I'm losing much more daily than I before treatment. Everyone warned me that even if it did work I would still lose a lot of hair. It hasn't happened yet. It still might but being very optimistic that it won't. Sorry for the long response but saving my hair has helped me emotionally so very much. I teach fourth graders and I have 2 girls. I think having not lost it yet as helped my 2 daughters very much also. It's not the most pleasant thing I have done but so worth it to me.
If I could do it over I would try a cold cap. I lost all my hair and only about 1/3 cam back, I'm almost 2 years out. I would try anything to keep my hair.
I tried one on before I started treatments just to see if I could stand them. Gave me a headache. Also, my insurance wouldn't cover and it would have been quite pricy. I decided not to use them. Figured loosing hair was part of process and mentally, it gave me reassurance the mess we're doing it's thing. Wigs weren't a big deal, and my hair grew back even thicker. See if you can give them a try ahead of time too.
I haven't tried it myself, but my onco said it helps only 10% of the time.
Thanks I will! Hugs back
