My BMX Was 3 Years Ago, Just Recently I've Been Having A Burning Painful Sensation In My Cancer Foob.

I had BMX and exchange surgery was 2 1/2 years ago. I didn't have fat grafting or anything else done since exchange surgery. Recently I've been feeling a painful burning sensation on the cancer side , I did not have rads, just chemo. I'm guessing that it's most likely nerves growing back , right??? I hate how this has turned me into the biggest hypochondriac, anyone else experiencing this? Thank you!

Thanks Mern. I'm giving it a few more weeks before I do anything. How are you doing? You are often on my mind, you've had a rough few years, I bet your esophageal spasms are related to all the physical and emotional stress you've been under. Take care of yourself sweetie, I love you

Sahar, I think many many of us experience burning twinges. Three years out for me and a new location of pinging burn will jump into existence, seemingly out of nowhere. Call your surgeon to request an ultrasound to check out the area. Ive found they're usually happy to do one to allay fears. Now, these nerve twinges still come (not as frequently) and usually change or go away within a couple weeks. Im sure I'd press for a scan if it persisted, but they don't.
At any rate, since it steals your thoughts, that's a good enough reason to get it checked out. Worry that goes well beyond annoyance is best challenged with a scan.

So sorry you are having to go thru this. If your doctor is not taking your concerns seriously, it is time to get another doctor. I would let them know you are not satisfied with their service and will be changing doctors.

Hi Sahar, I get those burning sensations on my mastectomy incision often and had an ultra sound and I was told it's all nerves. If I do a lot of lifting it gets worse. Like Karen said when in doubt ask for an ultra sound. I have a friend who has the same issues and we think we will be living with this for a long time. My MD checked my mastectomy and my other breast this morning. I told him my concern about my mastectomy hurting all the time and he sees no indications of any new cancer.
