Does Anyone Regret Having Reconstruction?
I am having 2 nd thoughts about reconstruction. I had it done but had I known I would just have gone flat
I’m with you @A MyBCTeam Member. I had my implants removed last July and couldn’t be happier. I, too, feel flat and free. No more surgeries!!
I'm so glad all of you are sharing this information and your stories. I had immediate reconstruction after my Bi-lateral mastectomy and got an infection a month later. Then the implants came out and infection treated. Now I have all of this "extra skin" ...similar to when someone loses a lot of weight. I lost a lot of natural boobs. I think I've decided not to do reconstruction again, but now I have to decide if I want skin removal. I'm hoping that if I do, my doc can remove the skin and my port at the same time after my treatments are done. It's nice to be able to sleep on my stomach and not have any back aches, but it's also hard to lose body parts, see the visual evidence of what was once there and will never have a gain.
Thank you for sharing I was a 42 DD just had a double mastectomy and I chose not to have any more surgery.
Goodness, what has happened since then? How are you?
I had implants done during the same surgery for my mastectomy. The right one got infected and they were both removed and a soft smaller implant with saline was inserted after the infection was cleared. I had fat grafting to add the appearance of my breasts as they were before but that fat hardened and migrated to the sides of my breasts. Now I have lumps on each side of my breasts because the fat hardened and moved. Then had a biopsy of these to confirm that fat that has necrosed in my breast cavity.
How Do You Feel About Your Decision To Not Have Reconstruction?
Was Told I Am Her2+ Found In My Areola And Said It’s Paget’s Disease. Dcis Biopsy Had Irregular Calcifications. Should I Undergo Mastectomy?
Single Mastectomy Or Double, Which Is Better?
