Toe Nail Lifting From Nail Bed. Has This Happened To You?!
My big toe nail on my right foot is lifting from the nail bed. There’s also clear liquid coming from underneath it. I don’t want to lose my big toe nail. I got all the way through chemo just for this to happen 😩😩😢😢 I made an appointment with a podiatrist but he can’t see me until next Friday.
Oh yasss girl! You're describing exactly what happened to me after chemo too. Fear not, for there's a chance all will be fine in the end! I too was concerned. Doc told me that we only had to ensure the clear liquid didn't smell bad (= sign of more serious infection). Now it's still lifting from nailbeds, but stabilized (not oozing anything or becoming any more black). What I did: always washing with neutral soap and drying carefully; soaking feet on a mix of water, vinegar and some himalayan salt. Moisturising and (in my case) using antifungus pomade cause I had some athlete's foot on the mix. Keeping nails trimmed, coating with a tea tree oil nail treatment, plus dark enamel. Still going strong. Got to observe the root, if it's rosy and well glued to toes then good :)). Hugs
I was told during taxol to put clear nail polish hardener on my fingers and toes and it helped
During Taxol I noticed my 2 big toenails are lifting and very brittle. I had some pain when it started, still do at times. I was told to soak in water mixed with vinegar and use a tea tree oil on the the. The other toes are dark and/or yellowish color. I was told no pedicure due to risk of infection. My toes have never looked this awful!
Yes, only lifted a bit on both big toes. Has not grown out completely and it still sensitive.
Did the vitamin E oil work on your nails during chemo or once you finished chemo ? @A MyBCTeam Member
