Side Effects Of Taxol After AC Chemo?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
Jacksonville Beach, FL

I am starting 12 weeks of Taxol after an 8 week round of AC chemo. I had 4 infusions in 8 weeks and was absolutely exhausted, nauseous, and experienced severe muscle and bone pain. I think the bone pain was due to the neulasta. My oncologist said Taxol would be much easier and I wanted to hear from any one else who had been through a similar course of treatment and how they fared. New to this site and appreciate the help!

Claritin helps with a great deal of the side effects of muscle and bone pain. You want the standard non drowsy Claritin one a day pill.

I thought the 12 courses of weekly taxol was going to kill me toward the end but it could have been a cumination of 4 weeks of ac I had first along with the taxol.I am 2 and a half months post treatment and am feeling pretty much back to normal except for the neuropathy

I took Claritin everyday through treatment. Maybe I'm just being a baby, but it did not seem to help very much and unfortunately I had to rely on narcotic pain medicine- something I hate!

I just finished my Abraxane /Taxol infusions . Had total of 12. It was much easier than the AC. Fatigue is way less. I did have several side effects skin rash, diarrhea nose bleeding mouth sores, nail pain and infection, severe heartburn and some nausea and vomiting the night after treatment. I also had continued low blood counts sp had to recieve Granix injection which is similar to Neulasta and far as the bone pain. I was able to return to work 20 hrs per week. I was a little tired but not exhausted like I was during AC treatments. I reccomend taking a hair skin nail supplement.have imodium with you at treatment often I would develop diarrhea during treatment. Eucerin lotion worked best for extreme dry skin. Get a humidifier or vaporizer for your room that will help with nose bleeding and soreness. I take zantac for the heartburn with zofran if nauseated too. I feel that the taxol was much easier and time went by faster than I thought it would. Take it a day at a time. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it gets brighter everyday.

I just did my last Taxol infusion today, and I can honestly say I’ve had literally NO side effects... it was much easier than the ACT, and my appetite came back too.....
