If I Have A Total Hysterectomy Will I Have To Continue On Tamoxifen ?
I had a total hysterectomy 3 years ago. Now DCIS my breast surgeon is not recommending any other measures only did DMX no radiation, chemo, or any drugs
I never took any hrt for menopause so maybe that's why nothing else needed in my case
Usually they will advise you to take an aromatase inhibitor (like arimidex)after oopherectomy or hysterectomy. Please remember you donβt have to take anything - its always your choice. If you havent already, find out how much taking tamoxifen (selective estrogen receptor modulator) or an aromatase inhibitor affects your absolute (not relative) recurrence risk. Had complete hysterectomy with oophorectomy almost 30 years ago. Had ER+, Her2+ BC discovered 4 years ago. Lumpectomy, sentinel node check (neg), chemo, radiation, herceptin. Have been on Aromatase Inhibitor for 3 years, still have 2 years to go. Still getting hot flashes, still estrogen in my body.
Exactly!! Those drugs can play havoc on your daily life. Lots of side effects. Wish any and or all luck taking anything.π
