I'm 6 months out after radiation and still exhausted. I work 2 jobs, about 55 hours a week (less than the 3 jobs and 80 hours a week I was doing during my 3 surgeries and radiation and yet I'm MORE tired now - crazy!) . I'm awaiting testing to check my heart to make sure i didnt develop heart disease from the radiation. That's interesting that aletamad mentioned the emotional stress BC causes. I never thought about that being a possibility, but it makes sense. I have had one heck of a year. Lost a job in Oct right after my treatments ended due to the company being acquired and my position eliminated (boss, who is also my best friend, managed to keep my insurance until my treatment was finished, bless his heart). Went FT at one of my other jobs, but its very stressful (used to be able to do it from home, sort of, but its much better for me job wise to work on location). Lots of drama there and the director, who is not my boss (the administrator is), drives me crazy much of the time. Working with all women is not fun for me!! Finances are very tough every month, but somehow God takes care of me every month and I have enough to cover bills. All of this is a huge stress, and add the extreme fatigue on top of it, and it's an even bigger stress. My house is a disaster, but I'm too exhausted to deal with it much. Most days I'm asleep by 7 or 8 (some nights I make it to 9 or 10) on my bed after I finish both jobs and dinner and lie down in bed to watch tv. I'm hoping this fatigue goes away very soon - I'm so tired of being tired!

I have to learn to pace myself. At least I can work from home. I have a good night's sleep, and I wake up and am sleepy in an hour. If I need to go to the store, I give myself a maximum of 2 hours out then that's it. That will usually wipe me out for 2 days. I finished my radiation end of May.

Hi RJ. I don't know how you do all that. My meds make me so fatigued I could never work that long. So yes, fatigue can be a daily nightmare.

Fatigue is a very common side effect of breast cancer and its treatments. According to the knowledge base, many people with breast cancer experience fatigue that can last for months or even years after treatment. This fatigue can be overwhelming and isn't typically relieved by rest or good quality sleep. It's not unusual for individuals to feel extremely tired even a year out from treatment, making it challenging to manage daily activities like working a 9-hour day.
