Taxol Weekly For 12 Weeks

Has anyone who it BRCA Positive with TNBC undergone Taxol weekly for 12 weeks? What was that like? Side effects you experienced? I know everyone's body takes things differently, I just want to hear the non-sugar coated side of things. I have one more round of Dose Dense AC and then more to this.

Hi! I am BRCA2+ with TNBC and just had my 4th weekly dose of Taxol. 8 to go! I find Taxol to be so much easier than AC. I do have some joint and bone pain and some neuropathy but no nausea like with AC. I had nausea really bad. The fatigue is real but I can deal with that. Really hope Taxol is better for you too!

I am a 5 year survivor, I had taxol every week for 12 weeks. Much easier to handle than the chemo treatments I had I felt more like my new self and really didn’t have any side effects that stand out other than fatigue.....

Hi Tawnya, I am not BRCA positive, but have TNBC. I just finished this week with Taxol and carboplatin weekly for 12 weeks. I had minor nausea, some minor constipation, some fatigue, very minor and very intermittent bone pain. I lost all of my remaining body hair- i.e. brows, lashes, down there, etc. That was literally it. For me the Taxol/carbo routine was much easier than the A/C. The pre-meds didn't help with the fatigue, since the Benadryl literally made me feel like sleeping for a very long time.
I'd tell you to ice your hands and feet during treatment. My onco doc also recommended a B Complex vitamin to prevent neuropathy. Be sure you drink plenty of fluids, and get some exercise. Exercise is the best way to combat fatigue.

@A MyBCTeam Member: I did dose-dense Taxol (double dose every two weeks instead of weekly) and it was waaaaay better than AC. Taxol causes some achiness and pain in your bones and joints but I found that much easier to deal with than the Shitty flu feeling of the AC. As a nice bonus the pre-meds for Taxol were given via IV (as opposed to pill form with AC) and they made me pleasantly drunk. I always napped for the first hour or two. I found heat to be the best thing to help with the pain/achiness (hot baths, heated blankets etc.) I developed some mild neuropathy in my fingertips and toe tips - thats about it. You're gonna do great 💖

Hi there, I did Taxol for 12 weeks every Tuesday and because I didn’t get a port I had bloodwork and IV weekly as well. My main side effects I remember were night sweats and some RLS. I would wake up soaked! I was cold capping to save my hair so that was a whole other situation but I had lost eyebrows, eyelashes and pubic hair, I wore glasses clear because you don’t realize how much your lashes and brows protect your eyes, it was so weird. Also they gave me Benadryl the first treatment Which instantly made me very fatigued and I felt miserable, my dr suggested to take a Claritin instead Prior to treatment and that worked like a charm! I felt amazing but had munchies like crazy. Lastly I’d take biotin or hair/skin/nail supplements, my nails have never been the same, like thin brittle paper now since treatments.
