Hello pink sisters! I’m getting really scared because I’m about to finish chemotherapy and now the next thing is tamoxifen. There are so many side effects I’m really nervous and there is also a risk of uterine cancer. Was thinking about a hysterectomy but need to do more research. I’m feeling overwhelmed been doing chemo since 2/2022 just want to be done already!! I’m feeling a little depressed and I’ve been so tired. Started with TCHP that was one rough ride! Then had surgery followed by… read more

I did start tamoxifan but after I quit taking it I could not handle the side effects but I did try, when or if you you do take just keep communication with your oncologist about what it is doing. If u need to talk I'm good listener

I am on Tamoxifen for over 5 years. I started (after chemo & radiation) arimedex for 1.5 years and could not deal with the horrible side effects. Switched to exemestane and after 5 months much of the side effects, especially painful muscles, came back.
So, last option was Tamoxifen. I deal with hot flashes and muscle cramps. I only recently found out, from a new oncologist, to try 2 ounces of pickle juice at night. Muscle cramps stopped. I also discovered more recently, that taking magnesium GLYCINATE has stopped the cramps. So, I stopped taking pickle juice, but keep it on hand. I am quite active so sometimes it does make the cramping worse. I have about 3.5 years more of Tamoxifen. Hey! I wish they had that cold cap when I went through chemo in 2016. Going bald sucks. I would not even let my husband see my bald head. Wore a wig in the hottest summer in Cleveland.

I had HER2 positive . I had 2 Chemos and herceptin every 2 weeks. It is very hard! I Went to work when I wasn’t sick. I was exausted! I lost all my hair. I had great wigs! Steroids made me gain weight! Felt disgusting and so ugly! So I know how you feel! Radiation was exausting! I took tamoxifen for 10 years I had no problems. I did have a huge tumor in my uterus benign thank god! so I had to get a hysterectomy a year before I was diagnosed with breast cancer! I was on 2 other meds for menopausal women. They were not a fit! I had to many side effects. tamoxifen fit like a glove.

I am currently taking Anastrozole and when I saw my OBGYN I asked that same question about uterine cancer. She has been in practice for 23 years. She said it is very rare she sees uterine cancer anymore and over her career so far it is very rare. I just got back from my oncologist, and he said it was rare. I struggled with the thought of taking the Anastrozole because of the side effects. Remember everything has a fix. I was very relieved when I made the commitment to take the Arimidex/Anastrozole. Do what is best for you. I just had the conversation with my oncologist and said I was not taking the Fosamax (which is for your bones). He felt like was not a good decision. So, I understand how you feel right now with your head spinning. wishing you all the best. Hugs.
