Diagnosed on February 12 2024 had my bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction on June 20th. Started Taxol and Herceptin a month later in July. I had many insurance issues that’s why it took 4 months to get started with treatment.

My pathology report confirmed the cancer diagnosis the radiologist had told me to expect- That was early December 2018, surgery was mid-December, chemo started Jan 3, 2019. A couple of postponements during chemo, but finished the Herceptin infusions in January 2020. My time table was fast because of the procedure I wanted, and the surgeon had an opening that I could take advantage of.

Some of the timetable depends on if you are going the lumpectomy or mastectomy route, and what type of reconstruction you opt for. For me, I opted for the mastectomy, flat closure, no reconstruction. So surgery- infusions, and done. If I had gone with the lumpectomy, they would have done chemo first in an attempt to shrink the tumor, then surgery. Reconstruction means you also have to work within the plastic surgeons schedule.

Keeping you in prayers as you navigate through all the info and options to make the decision that is right for You!! Hugs!

I was diagnosed on April 14, 2023. Bilateral mastectomy May 4, 2023. IDC, stage 1, Grade3. Lymph node negative. The margins were not clear so, I had to have a re-excision on May 24, 2023. Margins clear second time around.
