Vitamin D3 5000
Confusion about (Phone number can only be seen by MyBCTeam users) IU . The bottles also say 25 ,50, 125 mcg
What number of MCG's should we be taking?
@A MyBCTeam Member I was told by my doc to take 5,000iu daily... BUT..and this is important.. You must take it alongside k2, this is because k2 helps the d3 go to your bones, and not to your arteries.. facts, I study this stuff for hours! Best wishes and hugs and wuv!
I am learning to make sure my concerns are met and the doctor understands where I am coming when I have my appointments. I am also stage one but like you said cancers cancer. I am making sure I get a Dexa scan every six months even if I have to pay for it . My bones are worth the cost of the scan . You must feel like you can truly express your self and be heard or replace the doc
There was a woman here earlier @A MyBCTeam Member just starting out on an AI and I linked this post to her telling her to take D3/K2 but I am not sure if starting 5000 IU is good. Knowing how quickly the AI's can cause damage.... I encouraged her to keep her bones in good shape with D3/K2 and not the bone infusions. Women really need to know the dangers of bone infusions and injections, if they are women who tend to follow doctors orders or they just don't understand the forever effects of those drugs it really is up to us to educate those who don't know.
I hear you...each of you.
I've said it before that finding a doctor, any doctor (Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist, Breast Surgeon, etc.) is like "Speed Dating" your going to try out a few before you find the right one. You must be comfortable and trust the medical team individuals you trust your healthcare with.
History: OK, me 2021- IDC Stage 1C left breast. Lumpectomy with Radiation. OncoType DX Score was "0" so No Chemotherapy was recommended.
Follow-up:
1. Annual Mammogram- Breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography) This is a specific type of Mammogram not a normal mammogram. I have "Extremely Dense Breasts" which many of us have. This is a different process mammogram and reading. My Radiation Oncologist shared research information with me regarding doing 6 months vs. 1yr Mammograms and I chose to do the 1-year Mammograms based on the
2. DEXA Bone Density Scan- BEFORE you start Aromatase Inhibitor drugs and every 2 years. Typically, use the SAME scan machine to enable them to do comparison from scan to scan to determine changes. So, keep that in mind when scheduling your scans, etc. No Tums, Calcium, etc. prior to the scan.
3. Blood /Lab work: 1st year every 6 months, after that every year.
4. Vitamin D3 (dissolvable) 125 mcg (5,000IU) 1 tablet daily is what I do! Please note there is a difference between the various Vitamin D's.
mcg=micro grams
IU= International Units
I see the Medical Oncologist on an Annual basis and my Primary Care Physician on an Annual basis.
Thats what I can add to the discussion. Thanks
@A MyBCTeam Member you are in this discussion about Vitamin D3. My oncologist prescribed 600 IU when I started Anastrozole, when she initially ordered it in August 2023 knowing I refused bone injections and bone infusions. I had no clue. So I took Anastrozole from October to Feb taking only 600 IU's of D a day and my Vit D test came back very low. So, after reading here, I put myself on 5000 IU's a day so I still don't know the results yet.
