Gloria. Go for the social security disability. It probably pays more than your regular social security. Apply for state aid(Medicaid). It’s based on your income because when you’re on social security disability you have to wait two years to get Medicare. They are trying to change that but you know how slow things get done in Washington. While I was on Medicaid (state insurance) I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Never had to pay a dime for anything. I was lucky in that sense. Now I’m on Medicare part C. A Medicare advantage plan that I have to pay for. However once they pay $4000 for prescriptions I fall into the Gap. So my scripts cost more because I have to pay 25% of the cost of the drugs. Much higher than copays. Research the manufacturer of the drugs. Look for their patient assistance program and apply.
