Has Anyone Else Going Through This?
I don't know where to start. Two years ago I went to my gyno with tender breast my left one she sent me for Mamogram and every 6 months since. In February I went for my 6 month mammo and they suggested a biopsy because it should miro classifications. Did the biopsy in May and my breast surgeon said it wasn't cancer but I am at a high risk so she put me on 1mg of anastrozole saying it would delay the process
She also ordered a breast mri which I just had last week. Now the mri suggest a guided… read more
Hi Michelle, you do and should have a biopsy because that is the only way to get an actual result what kind of cancer, grade and stage and even if it is a cancer.
BUT I have never heard of being put on a hormone blocker without an actual Estrogen receptor diagnosis. Not every Breast cancer has Estrogen receptors, so I really don't understand that at all. 🥰
A second opinion never hurts! Peace of mind is priceless!
Thank you. I just remember her saying the blocker was to slow the process down. I will ask more questions this time and I was also thinking about getting a second opinion. Also I have pain that comes and goes though out the day. Some days more than others. They say pain is not a symptom but I don't think it's normal. And it's only in my left breast the pain.
Also, if they find LCIS they have to do surgery to remove that! They don’t just leave it in the breast. Why was there such a delay between your last mammogram and the MRI? It needed to be done right away…. Did the doctor not put a “speedy” request on it?
Don’t panic though. Take it one step at a time. All you can control is you and just make sure not to let many months go by between exams/tests. Remember: you have the power over your body, no one else! So if necessary, advocate for yourself and get second opinions. And ask more questions if you need to, from us and the doctors. ❤️
I agree with Barbara. Micro calcifications is what I had and the cancer it turned into was not hormonal, it was Her2-positive, which is quite different.
Definitely get this biopsy done asap. Micro calcifications are never good news and I wish I had been more insistent on biopsying this way sooner. So definitely let them do this MRI guided exam. I had a mammogram-guided exam the first time they discovered the microcalcifications and it also was negative. But it did become cancer later so it’s important to stay on top of it. Don’t be scared. These are the right procedures for biopsying those.
