Calcium Without Vitamin D3?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question 💭
New Jersey, NJ

My blood tests show high levels of vitamin D so my onco tells me to take half. I’m looking for calcium supplements only but most come with vitamin D.. now I’m wondering, if I’m high on vitamin D, am I also high on calcium too? How do I know if I have too much calcium?

@A MyBCTeam Member Please take calcium with d3, AND, WITH K2!!! These should all be taken together for proper absorption, even so that your calc. and d3 go to bones and not your arteries, thus benefitting bones and heart! *Your calcium, if it were too high, should show up in a comprehensive blood pannel. Best of luck, I know it all gets a little much. Hugs!!!

There are plenty of calcium only supplements. And yes I agree always consult your doctor and the only way you will know your level is to check your labs

My doctor added Xgeva and vit D, and calcium. She also just added potassium and magnesium because those were low. This should all be on a routine chemistry panel. My doctor runs them monthly.

@A MyBCTeam Member & @A MyBCTeam Member Yes, I forgot to say very LOW dose of calcium should be taken, get the rest of you're required calcium through diet, we must get 1200mg calcium , but I only take 250mgs calc gummies, I eat another at least 800mgs via dairy! BUT, YOU MUST take vit k2, I do k2 in the form of mk7, you must take K2 WITH your D3 as well, otherwise even D is NOT absorbed properly!! They don't tell us these IMP little details, we have to study, my onco said, how did you know, lol? I know cause we live this, and we must be our own best advocates! HUGS AND PRAYERS, lovely ladies!!! Best wishes for a fantastic and healing new year! <333
